Capture Inbox
Forward partner emails to Triad and turn them into activities without typing or copy-pasting them
What the Capture Inbox is for
The Capture Inbox lets you get partner emails into Triad without typing or copy-pasting them. Forward an email from your mail app to your personal Triad forwarding address and it lands in the inbox as a draft. From there you process it with AI, review the result, and accept it as an activity on the partner's timeline — the same structured output you get from Capture, but started from an email you already have.
Use it for the partner threads worth remembering: exec exchanges, scoping and SOW discussions, escalations, and planning back-and-forth. For notes you type yourself or a transcript you want to paste, use Capture instead — the Inbox is the front door for email.
Find your forwarding address
Open Capture Inbox from the sidebar (under Work). At the top, "Forward emails here to capture them:" shows your personal address — something like yourname-a1b2c3@inbound.gettriad.io. Click Copy to grab it. You'll find the same address, plus more controls, under Settings → Forwarding.
The address is yours alone; forwards to it land in your inbox and are attributed to you. If it ever leaks or you just want a fresh one, click Regenerate — the old address stops working immediately.
Forward an email in
From your mail app, forward the message — or the whole thread — to your forwarding address. Forwarding the most recent email in a thread brings the quoted history along, so one forward usually captures the entire conversation. Within a few seconds it appears in your Capture Inbox as a pending item, and the count badge on the sidebar Capture Inbox link tells you something's waiting. The list refreshes on its own when you come back to the tab.
Process a capture
A forwarded email starts as a draft — nothing is analyzed until you process it. Click Process on the item, or select several and use Process N selected to run a batch (Triad processes a few at a time). Triad reads the email, works out which partner it's about, and decomposes it into an activity summary, contexts, next steps, and a relationship signal — the same engine as Capture.
If Triad can't match the email to one of your partners, the item shows Needs partner: pick the partner from the dropdown and click Set partner & process, and it runs against that partner.
Use the tabs — Active, Ready, Needs processing, Unverified sender, Dismissed, All — to filter the queue. Preview shows the processed draft inline without opening the editor.
Review and accept into an activity
When a capture is processed, click Edit & Save to open the full review editor — the same one Capture uses. Check the summary and contexts, fix any mis-linked accounts, add participants, and confirm or change the next-step owners (Triad pre-fills a suggested owner; you decide). Click Save Activity and the capture becomes a real activity on the partner's timeline. The item then leaves your inbox. Anything you don't want to keep, Dismiss.
Trusted senders and held forwards
So a stray or spoofed forward can't quietly drop content into your workspace, Triad only auto-processes email from senders you trust. The first time you forward from a new address, that capture is held under the Unverified sender tab and can't be processed until you vouch for it. Click Trust sender to trust that address and release anything it already sent, or Dismiss to drop it.
Manage the list any time under Settings → Forwarding → Trusted senders: add an address ahead of time, or Remove one to stop trusting it (removing also re-holds anything that sender had sent). Your own sending address is trusted as part of setup, so your normal forwards flow straight through.
Common gotchas
Forwarding is the Inbox's only front door — there's no "paste into the inbox" box. To capture typed notes or a transcript, use Capture, which is built for pasting.
A capture that lands under Unverified sender isn't broken — it's waiting on you to trust the address it came from, so it has no Process button until you do.
Processing runs the AI, so it takes a moment and works best when the partner is already in Triad. If a capture can't find its partner, use Set partner & process rather than assuming it failed.
FAQ
Where do I find my forwarding address?
At the top of the Capture Inbox, and under Settings → Forwarding. It's unique to you and looks like yourname-a1b2c3@inbound.gettriad.io.
I forwarded an email but it didn't show up.
Two common causes: the forward came from an address Triad doesn't trust yet — check the Unverified sender tab and trust it — or you forwarded to an old address after regenerating, so use the current one shown in the inbox. New items also appear on the next refresh, so returning to the tab updates the list.
Does it record who forwarded what?
Yes. Each capture is tied to the person who forwarded it, so it lands in your inbox and is attributed to you when you accept it.
Can I forward a whole thread at once?
Yes. Forward the most recent message and its quoted history comes with it, so a single forward usually captures the entire conversation.
How is this different from Capture?
Same AI and the same review-and-save step. Capture is where you paste notes or a transcript; the Capture Inbox is where forwarded emails land so you can process them the same way.
